MLP Presents: Rise Up TV -Students showing off their creativity 🔥

Rise Up TV, hosted by Program Manager Lealah Dickinson

Despite all that we have dealt with this past year, there were some positive takeaways. With all this extra time on our hands, many took the initiative to pick up new skills & hobbies to keep their brains and bodies active. For some, that may have been perfecting that new cupcake recipe, and for others it may have been exploring new trails to hike around the local area. For our students, we noticed their innovation & motivation to create was incredibly high, despite all the challenges that came from quarantine.

Knowing the power in being able to express our individualism creatively at a young age, this is what was the main inspiration for Rise Up TV, a mini-video series that showcases mindful leaders who have taken part in our small Rise Up groups this school year. Students ranging in age from 2nd to 8th grades had the opportunity to showcase what they have learned about mindfulness during Rise Up through expressive arts, movement, and performing arts.

We received submissions from several of our partner schools, with talents ranging from playing the cello, to some graphic design artwork & poetry. All of our submissions were created by the students with their own hands, minds & hearts. Being able to see this new generation explore various creative outlets is beyond exciting!

We want to send deep heartfulness to the students, parents, teachers, and MLP staff members who spearheaded this project! We specifically want to shout out MLP Hip-Hop Coordinator Davin Thompson for being the creative mastermind behind it all and the originator behind Rise UP TV, Program Manager Lealah Dickinson for being an incredible host, Marketing Manager Malcolm Jackson for shooting & editing this masterpiece. Last, but not least, Stay Diff Media in Oakland for providing space to be able to execute everything the way we envisioned.

In this featured episode we have some 1st & 4th Grade students showing off their poetry, dancing & musical talents. We truly hope you enjoy this episode of Rise Up TV, as much as our team did creating it!

Please share this with your friends, family and anyone else you think would enjoy this fun, light-hearted video!

Endless gratitude!
