Mindful Community

Mindful Community is currently being implemented at all of our direct service partner schools. In Mindful Community, students and teachers learn mindfulness-based social-emotional skills in engaging and culturally relevant ways designed to connect with everyday experiences. Lessons are 25-minutes long and delivered once per week to every classroom in a partner school. Teachers are also trained to provide mindfulness in their classroom on a daily basis to compliment our direct services for maximum impact. Through the work we do with students, parents, teachers, leaders and whole school communities, Mindful Life Project is creating systemic change within the schools that is positively influencing all levels of the learning environment.

Rise-Up

To complement Mindful Community’s whole school approach, we support the most “at-risk” students in our deeper intervention and prevention pullout program, Rise-Up. In Rise-Up, we support eight students per grade level to deepen their mindfulness practice and use expressive arts, yoga and performing arts to release stress and trauma so that they can thrive in the whole school community. These Sessions are often twice per week and are 45-minutes long. Students are referred to the program by principals and teachers who qualify based on behavior data and social-emotional needs..

Trainings

Our three-pronged mindfulness training program (Mindful Educator Fellowship, Mindful Leadership Training, and Mindful Curriculum Training), focusing on new teachers and teachers in the most underserved communities, including, but not exclusively our partner schools:

Mindful Educator Fellowship

Mindful Educator Fellowships provide mindful essentials for personal well-being and simple trauma-informed mindfulness best practices to implement in classrooms. We have trained over 1,000 teachers, 100 school psychologists, 175 occupational and speech therapist and many others.

Mindful Leadership Training

This training provides attendees an in depth understanding of what mindfulness is, the brain science, trauma informed best practices, and an emphasis on how to lower stress and reactivity. The training creates an overall understanding of how stress impacts the individual and how that can impact student learning. Attendees learn science based practices that increase mindfulness, compassion, trust and safety between all. Included in this training, our team focuses on how to improve leadership through mindfulness, specifically in building transformative relationships, communication, non-reactivity, and learning how to be sustainable in the work.

Mindful Curriculum Training

This training provides people who work with youth (in any capacity) the opportunity to receive training on MLP's TK-2nd grade curriculum and 3rd-8th grade curriculum. Included in this training are teaching best practices: creating a safe and trusting space, classroom management, engaging ways to get classrooms to focus, culturally relevant pedagogy, daily practice activities, mindfulness games and much more! Our curricula has reached over 35,000 students and has proven to weave mindfulness and social-emotional learning with a deep sense of empowerment.

Mindful Life Project loves to customize trainings and support for your school.
